PACHAMAMA DESPACHO
The tradition of venerating Pachamama, aslo know as Mother Earth, dates back to prehispanic times when people regarded her as the protective autonomos goddess of fertility in their diferent empires, dedicated to nourishing and preserving the well being of humanity. She has the unique power to both sustain and take away life on earth.
According to the Andean cosmovision, Pachamama becomes hungry and thirsty during certain times, which is the main reason for the celebrations in her honor. The andean tradition recommend to give at least one offering despacho per year, to be thankful and give back what we all receive from the universe.
The offering or despacho in quechua language in Peru is call Haywaricuy, is an opportunity to honor, celebrate, ask, and give back to the cosmos that is represented by a beautiful offering with many symbols and colors.
